Yes, depending on the finish dictates the type of sealer used as apart of the process. We use sealers on all of our decorative concrete and recommended for broom finished concrete to be sealed also, but that is largely a decision of the customer. The benefits of sealing decorative concrete are largely cosmetic, but it does have a significant impact on decorative and broom finished concrete durability. It reduces the amount of water that enters through the surface of the concrete. It helps keep the surface clean and uniform in appearance, and is arguably easier to maintain. Aesthetically, decorative sealer typically darkens and enriches the concrete's appearance, giving the surface a “wet” sheen. Penetrant sealer, for broom finished concrete typically do not change the surface appearance.
